- Student Council has started working with Master Gardeners in order to clean up and beautify our school. We have started taking lessons from these wonderful volunteers. Our goal is to provide a variety of new plants and trees to Desoto Central while, in the process, learning about nature.

 - Student Council is starting a new campaign project. Over the course of several weeks, Student Council will host multiple events that will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society*. Our goal this year is to raise $7,000 for the Society. There will also be competitions and prizes involved. Competitions will take place between classrooms, grades, and other schools. And, oh yes, the prizes! Obviously, the greatest reward is benefiting a great organization, but additional prizes can be earned as well. If you earn...

$25- You earn temporary blood cancer awareness tattoos, so you can proudly show your support for those affected by childhood cancers.

$50- You earn a Student Series wrist band to show how you are helping to save lives.

$100- Get your own piece of awesome LLS swag with a T-Shirt that you can proudly wear in recognition of your efforts.

$200- Earn a Mobi Mate Bear while supplies last.

$500- For students who show their compassion, service, leadership, and dedication to the cause, they may receive a letter of recommendation for their portfolia. By the way, this reward is probably the most, well, rewarding, for it counts towards your future in a very positive and promising way.

$1,000- You will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a... Beats Pill+!

*For the past few decades, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has funded research for Leukemia and Lymphoma. Their large efforts have paid off, and they still are. Survival rates for blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled, even QUADRUPLED. But research is still being conducted. Why? Every 3 minutes... someone in the US is diagnosed with a blood cancer. And, by the way, the main victims of Leukemia are kids, teens, and young adults. People our age are the most vulnerable to these horrible cancers. And, every 9 minutes, someone in the US passes away due to a blood cancer. Despite progress, more than a third of blood cancer patients still do not survive 5 years after diagnosis. Think of the progress LLS has made. Think of the progress LLS and other organizations will make in the future. But, they need your help. LLS needs your help. America needs your help. Children and other patients need YOUR help. Will YOU help?
