It's a Great Day to be a Jag! Greetings! My name is Chiquita Berry, and I teach 7th-grade Compacted and Regular Math.
Major math strands for the seventh-grade curriculum are number sense and operations, algebra, geometry, spatial sense, measurement, and data analysis and probability. While these math strands might surprise you, they are all critical lessons for a seventh-grade math student, and I enjoy preparing my students.
This is my 12th year teaching (fifth year here at DCMS). I have a BS in Information Technology, a BS in Technology Teacher Education, and a MAT in Teaching, all from Mississippi State University. I will complete my Ed Specialist in the Fall of 2022.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son, traveling, cheering for the MSU Bulldogs, and shopping.
7th Grade Math Supplies
1 – 3 Subject, Pocket Spiral Notebook
1- Pronged Folder w/Pockets
6- Glue Sticks
1- TI-108 Calculator
Homework will be given daily.
In every math class in 7th grade, all quizzes are taken as a classwork grade. Quizzes are also OPEN NOTE, meaning that whatever notes the students take in their notebook, they are allowed to use on the quiz.
Students will take at least four tests every nine weeks. These test dates are located on their calendars and will be announced. Students will be given the opportunity to retake tests if they would like to improve their grades. Students will have to take home a retest form and fill it out to request a retest. This allows students to analyze what they have done wrong, and why, and fix their mistakes. My class is focused on GROWTH, not just getting things correct or incorrect.
Tests and quizzes below a C will be sent home to be signed by a parent.
