Bachelor's of Music Education with an emphasis in Voice from Delta State University

Experience

During my last year of college, I worked with the DSU Chorale and conducted a piece with them during our final concert. I was able to work with the high school choir before student teaching here at DCMS. After student teaching, I was hired as the full time director for the middle school.

Bio

Hello! My name is Kimberly Hunsucker and I am the choir director at DeSoto Central Middle. I was born in Memphis and lived there for a few years before my family moved to Southaven. I started school with DeSoto Central and was a part of this exact choral program. I graduated from DCHS in May of 2010 and began my college journey that Fall. While in my last year at DSU, I was able to work with the DSU Chorale and conduct them in my final concert. I was also fortunate enough to work with DCHS Choirs for a semester before student teaching here at DCMS.

I am blessed to have just celebrated my fourth anniversary with my husband back in July. We both enjoy going to the Orpheum, spending time with family, and traveling. Our newest and greatest adventure yet has been the birth of our sweet daughter, Joanna Renee! She will be one in December, and she has made life so exciting in all of the best ways!

I received my degree from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. I am so excited to return to my alma mater to share with your kids the joys of singing. It was during my middle school years when I realized Music Education was the career path for me. I am constantly learning new things as an educator and I'm excited to be on a learning adventure with the students each and every day!  My passion is teaching and being able to share the love of music the way it was shared with me. That is why I do what I do! I am looking forward to an awesome year with your kids, and I can't wait to share our music with you as well!
