Beta Club
Congratulations to our 2023-2024 Beta members!! The DCMS Beta Club will host its induction ceremony on November 7 at 6pm in the DCMS Gym.
What is Beta Club?
The National Junior Beta Club is an honor organization that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, promotes strong moral character and social responsibility, encourages service to others, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for you to develop strong interpersonal skills.
Important Dates
October 11th (Wednesday) – Club Meeting
October 11th (Wednesday) – field trip to DCHS to see The Outsiders play (8:30-11:00) Must return permission slip by Friday, October 6th.
October 14th (Saturday) - Barnyard Bash
October 18th (Wednesday) - Treats for Heroes donations due
October 20th (Friday) – Last day to turn in filled shoeboxes. Please turn those into the library. ONE service hour will be given per box. The maximum number of hours given will be TWO (for 2 filled shoeboxes) for this service opportunity. However, feel free to bring as many boxes/supplies as you’d like.
October 23rd (Monday) – Field of Dreams – Limited to the first 20 students that sign up. Sign up sheet posted on the Beta table in the library.
October 25th (Wednesday) – basket assembly for Treats for Heroes (limited to 12 students)
November 1st (Wednesday) – Campus clean-up
(limited to 20 students)November 3rd (Friday) – Socktober donations due.
November 7th (Tuesday) – Induction - DCMS Gymnasium. All members be here at 5:30pm. Ceremony starts at 6pm sharp.
November 8th (Wednesday) – last day to turn in items for Desoto Hope
November 14th (Tuesday) – Veteran’s Day Parade (this is not set in stone)
January 10th (Wednesday) – Club Meeting
February 14th (Wednesday) – Club Meeting
March 20th (Wednesday) – Club Meeting
April 10th (Wednesday) – Club Meeting
May 2nd (Thursday) – Service Hours Log Sheet due
Service Opportunities
Each student is required to serve a minimum of 10 hours for the 2023-2024 school year. It is the student's responsibility to keep up with their log sheet and log hours as they are earned.
Any community service project that is presented at a meeting or by a sponsor has been pre-approved. If you have something else that you would like to do to earn service hours, those will need to be approved by a sponsor BEFORE you do it. When in doubt, please ask.

REMEMBER: All service opportunities not presented or discussed at a meeting must be pre-approved by Mrs. Davis if you would like to earn service hours.
