My name is Rachel Jenne’. I will be teaching your child math this year! This is my 11th year as a teacher for DeSoto County Schools, and my 8th at DCMS.  I taught for two and a half years at Horn Lake Intermediate, and one year at Overpark Elementary. I was a first and second grade assistant, and completed my student teaching in second grade. Every year has been very memorable, as I have been lucky to teach such wonderful students. DCMS is a great place where I truly enjoy being around such enthusiastic students, staff, and parents.

I grew up in Nesbit, but now live in Southaven with my husband Cody, who is a firefighter, and our two children. We welcomed Laine, our first, on November 11, 2008, and Charleigh-Grace, our second, on March 25, 2011. They are the loves of our lives and we enjoy spending every moment with them.

Here’s a little bit more information on my educational background. I graduated from the University of Mississippi in December of 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I plan to begin the Masters program in a few years, and continuing my education throughout my teaching career.

I am also a huge sports fan! I played softball in high school, and I love watching football in the fall. ROLL TIDE!! I also love listening to all types of music. I believe music is also important in the classroom, and I try to incorporate it into my students learning.

In my classroom I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. I work hard to build a sense of community among my students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork. I value the cooperation and collaboration in my classroom, as I work with my peers, and as I interact with parents. I believe GREAT things can happen when we work together.

I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for us!!
