One of our High School Academic Specialist, Dr. Shannon Eldridge, and Workforce Development Director, Beth Turner, presented a session titled “CCR Initiatives”, highlighting the work happening across our district to prepare students for success after graduation. From aligning academic pathways to strengthening workforce connections, DCS continues to set the bar in college and career readiness.

We are excited to welcome our seniors to the Senior College & Career Fair at the Landers Center! This 2-day event is all about helping our students explore the next step whether that’s college, career, or training opportunities after graduation.

✔ The 50/30/20 Rule
✔ Mobile Payment Apps & Online Shopping Safety

Student Spotlight: Nolan Daniel
DeSoto County Schools Workforce Development is proud to highlight Hernando High School senior, Nolan Daniel, who aspires to become an Audio Engineer. Nolan has been exploring college programs in audio engineering, and with the guidance of Bates Orr and the support of Brown Missionary Baptist Church, he is now gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field.
Through this long-term volunteer opportunity, Nolan is learning the craft of recording, mixing, and producing sound for live events—skills that will serve him well in pursuing his career goals.
A special thank you to Brown Missionary Baptist Church for investing in the future of our students and helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice!

Hernando High School senior Delanie Ward proudly represented DeSoto County Schools at the DeSoto County Business Women’s Luncheon on September 3, held at the new Northwest Community College Ranger Center.
During the event, Delanie heard an empowering presentation by Jackie Vaz on The Confidence Curve, gaining valuable insight into leadership, assertiveness, and overcoming imposter syndrome.
With plans to pursue a career in business—specifically in accounting—Delanie also took the opportunity to network with local business leaders. This experience was an excellent step forward as she builds the skills and connections needed for success in the business world.
We are proud to see our students actively engaging with our community and preparing for life beyond graduation.

Students from all grade levels at Olive Branch High School took advantage of an exciting resume workshop hosted by our very own Career Coach, Mrs. Loren Burse. This event was designed for anyone ready to take the next step toward their future by developing a strong, professional resume.
Whether starting from scratch or refining an existing draft, students worked on academic and professional resumes tailored to their goals. Each participant received personalized, one-on-one feedback to make their resume truly reflect their strengths and stand out to future employers or colleges.
